• John Throop President

    Dr. Throop is a 1993 graduate from The University of Michigan and a 1998 graduate of the Wayne State University School of Medicine.  He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at The University of Virginia and served as Chief Resident in his final year.  Joining ECS in 2001, Dr. Throop was involved early on in physician leadership with service on the Board of Directors of ECS, Medical Management Specialists, and the Michigan Professional Insurance Exchange.  He furthered his education with completion of a Masters of Business Administration with a Healthcare focus from The George Washington University in 2017.  Dr. Throop currently serves as the President of ECS, Vice Chair of the Michigan Professional Insurance Exchange, and Board member of a number of healthcare organizations.  He is a multi-time Ironman Triathlon finisher, enjoys camping, hiking, collecting medical antiques, and watching his daughters perform ballet and jump horses.

  • John Verbrugge Executive Vice President

    Dr. Verbrugge was born in Grand Rapids and raised in West Michigan. After completing his undergraduate studies at University of Michigan, he attended Columbia University in NYC for his master’s degree. Dr. Verbrugge then returned to MSU-CHM for medical school before moving on to Toledo for residency training at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. He started working as an attending physician at Blodgett Hospital in 1995 and has worked at no less than 10 different hospitals over the years. Since the merger of ESGR with ECS in 2000, Dr. Verbrugge has served in various administrative roles for the group. Dr. Verbrugge considers himself most fortunate to have worked with so many outstanding individuals and is extremely proud of ECS and the group that they have become! His free time is spent with family and close friends...trying to stay healthy.

  • Tammy Munger Chief Financial Officer

    When it comes to bean counting and keeping ECS's finances in order, Tammy is a pro.  As a key member of the executive team, she assumes a strategic role in the overall management of ECS.  Whether it's assisting with new contract negotiations, implementing financial policies or overseeing the annual budget process, Tammy manages the money stuff with detail-oriented ease and confidence. Her day to day duties include managing the accounting and finance functions, issuing financial statements and reports, and communicating with officers and outside consultants regarding business strategies. Outside of ECS, Tammy enjoys spending time with her husband and four children. Favorite family activities include downhill skiing and vacations at the beach.

  • Chris Port Regional Chief Medical Officer

    Dr. Port completed his BA in Political Science at the University of Michigan and MD at Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2002.  His residency was completed in 2005 at GRMEP/Michigan State University Emergency Medicine Residency Program in Grand Rapids MI. Dr. Port has served on the ECS Board since 2011 and was elected to the Executive team as Treasurer in 2017.  He has served as the Zeeland Community Hospital Medical Director from 2011-2017 and also was the Ottawa County Assistant Medical Director during that time.  He served a 2 year term as the Chief of Staff at Zeeland from 2016-2017 and was Vice Chief the 2 years prior. Currently Dr. Port is the Regional Chief Medical Officer for ECS.  When not working he enjoys building furniture in his woodshop, golf, cross country and road biking, running, and any other excuse to be outdoors.

  • Jeremiah Johns Executive Secretary

    Dr. Johns completed his BS in Biochemistry at Purdue University and MD at Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners / Michigan State University Emergency Medicine Residency program in 2007. He has served on the ECS board of directors and finance committee since 2010 and as Executive Secretary since 2016.  In addition to practicing Emergency Medicine, Dr. Johns serves as Executive Director of Answer Health On Demand, a Telehealth company formed by ECS. He enjoys outdoor activities including camping, riding dirt bikes and coaching his son’s lacrosse team.

  • Diana Baranoski Human Resource Manager

    With over 20 years of experience in Human Resource Management, Diana brings a wealth of knowledge to ECS. Some of her areas of expertise include talent acquisition, talent management, training, career development, and employee relations. Before ECS, Diana worked in both small entities and large corporations in a variety of industries outside of healthcare – non-profits, staffing agencies, manufacturing, and biotechnology. Diana has both a Bachelor of Arts from Spring Arbor University and a Master of Arts from Western Michigan University. Throughout her education, her major areas of study were Human Resource Development and Organizational Development. Diana prides herself in growing her professional network through her memberships with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Grand Rapids Human Resources Association (GRHRA). In her spare time, Diana enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading, and exercising. Diana especially treasures cooking Sunday dinners for her family and playing outdoor games or card games with them. She prepares gourmet meals for them utilizing her post-graduate education in Culinary Arts, where Diana learned to cook exotic meats like kangaroo and alligator as part of her International Cuisine course. 

  • Stacy Brewer Senior Payroll Administrator

    Stacy Brewer is ECS’s Senior Payroll Administrator. She received her Associate’s degree from Davenport Business College and has 20+ years of payroll experience. She has been a dedicated and loyal employee serving our providers for 10 years. She is responsible for processing the monthly payroll for our 260+ providers, as well as the bi-weekly payroll for our administrative staff. In addition to her payroll responsibilities, she also handles benefits administration and expense reimbursements. Stacy’s organization skills and great attention to detail allow her to excel in her role. She takes great pride in ensuring deadlines are met and is instrumental in generating solutions to problems that arise in her role. Stacy grew up and still lives in the Grand Rapids area. She is an avid dog lover and if you’re driving through the northeast side of Grand Rapids, you’ll probably see her out walking with her four-legged child, Aria. She likes crafting and baking and also enjoys spending time with her niece and nephews, who always bring a smile to her face.

  • Holly Heible Senior Scheduling Coordinator

    Holly Heible is the Senior Scheduling Coordinator for ECS.  She received a bachelor’s degree from Davenport University and has been with the company since 2004.  She completes the physician and APP schedules for all ECS sites, making sure our emergency rooms are staffed appropriately.  When she’s not scheduling for ECS, Holly enjoys spending time with her two children.

  • Denise Edgecomb Executive Assistant

    Denise Edgecomb grew up in West Michigan and graduated from Western Michigan University in 1990. After graduating from WMU, Denise started working in the marketing department of a paper product company in Kalamazoo. She then moved back to Grand Rapids and started working for Spectrum Health. While at Spectrum Health, Denise held various positions including Human Resources Assistant, Health & Disabilities Management Assistant, Administrative Assistant and Executive Assistant. In January 2016 she started working for Emergency Care Specialists as their Executive Assistant. A job that she truly enjoys. In her free time Denise likes spending time with her husband, two children and their two dogs.
